Muniyamma came through Bigg Boss – The Common Man, the pre-show that selected non-celebrity contestants for Bigg Boss Tamil 10, and is reported to be known by her birth name Banumathi. Unlike most of the season's celebrity contestants, her appeal comes from an ordinary background and an unpolished, direct way of speaking, which drew viewers who wanted to see someone from rural Tamil Nadu given a real shot at the platform. She cleared the pre-show rounds and was one of three commoners the audience vote carried through to the main house, alongside Shama and Jason Kaushi. She entered the Bigg Boss Tamil 10 house on the grand premiere night of 6 September 2026.
