Manivannan is a commoner contestant who came through Bigg Boss – The Common Man, the pre-show that selected non-celebrity entrants for Bigg Boss Tamil 10. He auditioned in his forties, saying he wanted to do something big and memorable with his life, and became a crowd favourite as an entertainer who leans on lighthearted humour, vocal sound effects and quirks such as reading words backwards. He came through the pre-show's physical and strategy rounds, notably surviving the high-stakes Ranking Battle, to finish among its Top 15 finalists.
