Bigg Boss Agnipariksha 2: premiere date, host, and how strangers earn a house key

On 15 August, a group of people who have never been on television will walk into a studio in Hyderabad and start competing for something money cannot buy: a bed in the Bigg Boss Telugu house.

That is the entire premise of Bigg Boss Agnipariksha. It is not a spin-off in the usual sense - nobody wins a trophy at the end of it. It is an audition conducted in public, and the prize is a seat on the show everyone actually watches.

Season two premieres on Saturday, 15 August 2026, on Star Maa and JioHotstar.

What season one actually proved

The first Agnipariksha ran from 22 August to 5 September 2025 - fifteen episodes, and then it was over. Wikipedia's record of it is blunt about the funnel: 45 people auditioned, 15 made the show, and 7 walked into the Bigg Boss Telugu 9 house.

Those are decent odds by reality-television standards. But the number that matters is not in that funnel at all.

Four months later, on 21 December 2025, Kalyan Padala lifted the Bigg Boss Telugu 9 trophy along with ₹35 lakh and a car. He was a commoner. He got in through Agnipariksha. He is the first commoner ever to win the Telugu edition.

That single result changed what the pre-show is. In 2025 it looked like a novelty round before the real season. In 2026 it looks like a viable route to winning the whole thing.

Where the season one class ended up

We hold the full cast of both Agnipariksha season one and Bigg Boss Telugu 9, so the crossover can be checked rather than assumed. These are the Agnipariksha contestants who went into the Telugu 9 house, listed by where they finished:

Two of the top three places in Bigg Boss Telugu 9 went to people who entered through the pre-show.

Who runs it

Sreemukhi hosts, as she did in season one. She is unusually well cast for it - she was the runner-up of Bigg Boss Telugu 3, so she is asking people to survive something she has survived herself.

The judging panel from season one - Abijeet, Bindu Madhavi and Navdeep - is listed as continuing. Abijeet won Bigg Boss Telugu 4 and Bindu Madhavi won Bigg Boss Ultimate, so the panel is made up of people who have played the game rather than critics of it.

What is different this time

Season one streamed on JioHotstar. Season two carries Star Maa as well, which moves it from a digital-only curiosity to something running on the biggest Telugu general entertainment channel in the state. That is a meaningful promotion, and it is the clearest signal the broadcaster liked what season one produced.

What has not been announced

The contestant list. As of publication no names have been confirmed, and anything circulating as a "rumoured list" is exactly that. We will name contestants here as they are officially confirmed and not before - the contestants page is where that list will build.

The exact premiere date of Bigg Boss Telugu 10 is also still open. JioStar has confirmed September 2026 for six editions but has not published individual dates. What we know about the main season is collected here.
